Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello! My name is Kim Thomas and this year I will be your child’s seventh grade science teacher. I am looking forward to meeting you as well as your child. We will have a fun filled year of galaxy exploration, natural science and lab discoveries.
I hope this letter will be the first step in our partnership in your child’s education. This in mind, I would like to share just a few of my classroom policies. My first policy that you can assist me with is ensuring that your child understands that his or her cell phone is not allowed in my class. I understand that it is imperative for you to be able to reach your child in case of an emergency, so I have included my contact information. Secondly, because there will be lab experiments please ensure that child follow the school policy and wears shoes that are closed toe. This will protect them in case a beaker or test tube is dropped. Although the year is just beginning, I also want to encourage you to begin considering the direction of your child’s science project. It is never too soon to get started.
A few of the procedures that your child will be expected to follow have been listed below. Please know that I would be able to answer any questions as they are presented. The first procedure is when the children enter my class they will sit in their assigned seat and begin work on their warm up activity( Except on Fridays). The next procedure would be to write down their nightly homework assignments. He or she will be able to present this to you daily. Each Friday, the children will have lab. This will require that each student bring a lab coat on Fridays.
I am available in the morning prior to the start of school from 8:10 – 8:30. I am also available after school until 3:50 should any students need assistance. My conference time is 10:15 to 11:00 and I can be reached via email. Please see that my contact information is listed below. Again I look forward to introducing you and your child to the exciting world of science!
